A: It may sound cliche, but I just wanted to make a real difference in my community. I recognized that education is the best route to long-term success, hence The Wilson Academy.
Q: What do you enjoy most about being Headmaster?
A: It’s an honor to be in a position to take a vital role in the development of young people. More than anything, I want Warrior grads to look back on their experiences at The Wilson Academy and be able to say “That was really something special”.
Q: Where did you get your holistic approach to education?
A: My mother taught third grade in the Akron, OH public school system for thirty years. We lived, and she taught in a low-income area; so my mother would always bring snacks for her students to eat throughout the day. When asked why she’d spend her own money to buy food for her students, she replied, “I can’t expect them to read and comprehend if they’re hungry.”
Q: What does the future hold for The Wilson Academy?
A: We try to improve every day, one day at a time, and in any way we can. Even the largest of things is simply a collection of little things. Ultimately we will be judged by the success of our graduates, and I know we’ll see increasingly great accomplishments from them as time goes on.
